Top-up Fees

The most cost effective way to top-up is using internet banking in the GLOBUG app, or on the GLOBUG website in My Account

  • Internet Banking (on the GLOBUG app or website) = 20¢ per top-up
  • Debit/Credit card (on the GLOBUG app or website) = 40¢ per top-up
  • In store = 75¢ per top-up

Understanding your debt balance

If you have a debt balance on your GLOBUG account, a percentage of each top-up will go towards reducing your debt. You can check your current debt balance in My Account

Your debt balance is made up of:

  • Any debt transferred from Mercury
  • The cost of power during the switch period

Debt is paid off over time by deducting a percentage of each top-up you make. This debt does not incur any interest charges or extra fees.

Deductions from each top-up are:
  • From the 1st of October to 31st of May this is 25% of each top-up.
  • During winter months (1st of June to 30th of September), to help with winter power costs, this is reduced to 10% of each top-up.

For safety reasons during the reconnection process we will request you confirm that it is safe to reconnect your power before we switch it back on. We recommend that you make sure all appliances are turned off and that a person over the age of 18 years is present on site.

The free GLOBUG app allows you to:

A. See your current balance

B. Top-up your account with your Debit/Credit card or Internet Banking

C. See an estimate of how many days of power are remaining

D. See how much you are spending on power; by day, week or month

What do the colours mean?

Green

Green = good
You have more than $10 credit remaining.

Orange

Orange = warning
Your power will be disconnected at midday tomorrow - unless you top-up before then.

Red

Red = urgent
Your power will be disconnected at midday today, we recommend topping up before 11:30am

White
White = disconnected

Your power has been disconnected.


Notifications

You can request regular GLOBUG alerts that can be sent either via text or email. The alerts available are:

Daily balance alert

Your current GLOBUG account balance is sent to you every morning. Texts cost 20¢ each.
Email alert: Free

Low balance alert

An alert is sent when your account status is Orange (below $10). A second alert is sent the next day when your account status is Red.
SMS alert: Free
Email alert: Free

To create notifications, sign in to 'My account' and click on 'Notifications'.

TXT services

You can access your GLOBUG account information any time via text. Cost per use is charged to your GLOBUG account. Here's how:

Account Balance To get your current balance, text BAL followed by a space and your top-up card number to GBUG (4284). Cost: 20¢ per request

Debt Balance To get your current debt balance, text DEBT followed by a space and your top-up card number to GBUG (4284). Cost: 20¢ per request

Reconnect To request your power be reconnected, text RECO followed by a space and your top-up card number to GBUG (4284). Cost: Free
